I currently have AT250 plus HBO (I have to have that) and Starz (my wife insists on it) I am participating ina three month free promo for Showtime. In the past when I had free Showtime I never watched it bit I am enjoying the movies and series. So here is the question is it worth it to ad Showtime? I realize that AT 250 plus three premiums is the same price as AEP so i could get Cinemax as well. I just am not sure that is all that much of a benefit as the movies are similar to HBO and the series are basically softcore though the production vlalues do seem to have risen a bit.

What should I do when my free Showtime runs out---stand pat or jump to AEP?

I would go with AEP. No real savings otherwise.

And Cinemax has some new series that are good, currently StrikeBack is running and has shown the season premier. It is about a British anti-terrorism strike team and is excellent imo.

These days from my perspective, HBO/Max/Starz makes more sense than Showtime. The only reason I keep that one is for the boxing as I find their original series not so good, and their movie selection to be pretty poor.

Well, if you like Dexter and Homeland (we are hooked), you will want Show through December. They have also been showing some British and Australian movies that never get here, and some are quite good.

Until a week or so ago I was in the EXACT situation you are in. AT250 with HBO and Starz. AEP cost $9 more. 14 more movie channels with 9 in HD. I say go for it... I did. :)

I have AT250 and BB@Home. Here's my take for those like me, who only care about the movie selection. AT250 comes with The Movie Channel and Encore. There's your movies from Showtime and Starz. BB@Home gets EPIX. So the only package that you don't get movie access is HBO/Cinemax. Make your pick. Again, this comes from someone who cares more about the movies, and uses his DVR so doesn't care about Go or Anytime services. My set up is Cinemax, The Movie Channel, Encore, & EPIX.

Personally, I've found that I watch hardly anything on Epix any more...or the other channels with BB@H. And now, since HDMovies is one of the replacements for AMC, I'm real close to dropping it, since I was able to get HBO and Show half off for six months. That would nearly offset the cost, keeping my bill pretty much the same.

I agree that Epix has gotten pretty stale. And since their movies are available on Netflix 90 days after they premier on the Epix channels, it would be pretty easy for me to drop them. But I still think that BB@H is a great value because I live near a BBV store, my wife loves Pixl and I can get most of the stuff from Starz/Encore either online or On Demand without specifically subscribing to them (saving me some $$). Is it me or has HDNet Movies stepped up their game lately?

The only channels I consistently watched in the entire BlockBuster @home channels ,were the Epix channels. Since I've seen just bout all of the movies on those channels repeated ,over and over, I dropped the entire $10.00 pack.
