Avatar has to be among the top 10 most overrated movies ever made. I was an okay to good movie at best. The concept was not that original. The story was derivative. The acting was schmaltzy. The effects were great.

Perhaps the sequel will tell a better story. But there is no real need for a sequel.

I for one really liked the movie. If nothing else, for its visual qualities. Both in 2D and 3D. Best looking 3D movie ever made, IMHO!
I watched it twice in theaters: in 2D and 3D and then purchased it on Blu-ray as well. I truly look forward to the sequel. Bummed about the delay. I wonder if it will be shot in 4K or 8K?

I think Avatar was all about the 3D. The 3D blew away what had been done before, and looked very realistic.

I thought the story was silly, but it just looked so good...
