Ummmm what? You canceled the same day you got it installed?
i canceled while he was on his way out here!!! i asked him what genie was getting he said a genie hr 54 with wired mini's. i told him i wanted a genie 2 with c61k minis. well he said only the gemini's come with the genie 2 and there wireless. there's no more hardwired geminis!!! i just said a genie won't work for 3 t.v.'s and i wasn't interested and i didn't want it. no need to deal with idiots!!

There is no fee to activate the Gemini. The CSR and the installer clearly don't know what they are talking about.

That is more garbage they are telling you. With a Genie 2 (HS17) you can have up to 8 clients but only 7 can be watched at the same time...wired or wireless. With the HR54 you can have up to 3 clients I believe...but to do wireless clients on an HR54 they would have to install a wireless video bridge (WVB) which the Genie 2 has the wireless video bridge built into it.

Now it could be they maybe came up with a rule of no more than 2 Gemini's anymore but I know people that have more than 2 of them. Either way either the HR54 or the HS17 has to have coax to it.

Also "having internet" has nothing to do with clients. Internet is supplied to clients via the HR54 or the HS17. They do not connect directly to your router to get internet in a typical setup. They can be but it isn't an approved by DIRECTV setup to do it that way.

As I said before you can change your package at any time. Unless there is some kind of rule that new customers cannot make a change after 30 days. Here is a screen shot of where I can change my programming package. All I have to do is click the "Switch" button.

Not sure why they would tell you that you can't get a wired Gemini unless with new installs they won't run new coax. It sounds like you had DIRECTV satellite before. If there is already coax where the Gemini would go all you would need would be the Gemini supplied with the DECA. I just installed my 2nd Gemini a couple of months ago and they supplied it with the DECA and I hooked it up wired and it works fine. It sounds like the CSR you are talking to has no idea what they are talking about. Talk to the installer about it when he arrives.
Ok here is what the rep told me. I can only upgrade my package and not loose any new customer promos. But if I downgrade my package I chance loosing my promos. They also flat out refuse to do a genie 2 with wired clients!!!
I told em to go pound sand

It was better when att ran it and that's not saying much!

They did try and sign me up for rhere streaming service I said you idiots can't run satellite right what in the hell makes you think I would give you a f**king penny for another service that you more than likely don't know what in the he'll your doing!!! And said ide look elsewhere.

I've had DirecTV stream at the apartment compound (they include Entertainment package in our rent) for 2 years now and no issues. I love it because you can record as many items at one time with no issues (college football season there may be 18 or 19 games to record at same time or overlap and it does it just fine). It also has auto extend on sports programs (well there is one that they don't and that is AEW Wrestling...no idea why) so don't need to extend time and lose a tuner to record. If the power goes out it still will record just fine. Also if there is a program change it will update much quicker than on the satellite service since that does it daily, the streaming service it updates al the time. Yes I've had both satellite (years ago) and streaming.

Yeah they just recently started that BS that you lose your promos if you make any kind of a change. It doesn't have to be an upgrade. You lose any promos if you change anything.

Not being able to change packages and not being able to change them based on promos are two different things.

To be clear, it's your money so spend it as you see fit, but for me DTV is still the best fit even though I could save a few bucks by switching to something else.

FWIW, I have an HS17 and a single C61K. I used to have several wired and wireless clients but that started adding up so I sent them back. The other five TVs are now using the streaming app. Both are excellent and I'd certainly rate the DTV app as better than the YoutubeTV app.

AT&T ran DIRECTV better than the clowns that are running it now. Never thought id'e say that LOL. I think the wireless gemini's must be a new rule to they tried to give me wired clients and the system would not let them. i told em to go pound sand.

how long have you had your genie 2 and C61K. we had the genie 2 with 4 C61K'S all hardwired when AT&T ran it. that must be another new BS rule.

This happened to me the last time I had DirecTV back in the year 2020. I started with the Entertainment package and after about two months switched to Choice. I could not believe that a company would penalize a customer for wanting to pay them more money. After brewing about it for a couple of months, I paid off my contract just to get rid of them.

I have made changes to my programming package since 2020, switched from Premier to Ultra, without any loss of promos. It was just last October when I got a promo renewed along with it was an email that says:

"By accepting this credit, you must keep your current premium programming, equipment, protection plan, and video base package or higher. After 12 months, each service bills monthly at the price then in effect unless you cancel.

If you become ineligible for your existing credit before the new promotion starts, then you may be ineligible for the new promotion."

So according to that you can change to anything if it increases the cost you pay and you won't lose the promotion but if you change anything that reduces your cost you will lose it.
