Bar with 16 Receivers. Diseqc Question.

We have both cable and DirecTV in the bar at the moment. We are looking to drop cable in and go strictly with DirecTV. Currently, we only have 8 receivers on a pvms-8ep diseqc switch. What is the best option for us to take so that we can run 16 receivers? Can we get another pvms-8ep or do we need a 2x16 diseqc switch?

Is this SD only?

The 2x16 would probably be the easiest. You could do another 2x8 but then you'd need 2 high frequency splitters to put on the outputs of the LNB

LNB output 1----splitter 1 port 1-------------2x8 input 1 switch 1
LNB output 1----splitter 1 port 2-------------2x8 input 1 switch 2
LNB output 2----splitter 2 port 1-------------2x8 input 2 switch 1
LNB output 2----splitter 2 port 2-------------2x8 input 2 switch 2

Yes, it's SD only.

I found the JVI 35STV16MS, however, it isn't powered. Would this be an issue?

no that would be fine
The receiver would power it.

I've seen a few 2x16's that dont use power
