CNN is reporting that San Francisco 49ers head coach Bill Walsh has died.

No more details at the moment.

I was listening to KNBR radio when they announced here in the SF Bay Area. It's really sad to see him go. He did so much for the Bay Area sports and specially for the 49ers.

Bill Walsh RIP.

Tom Snyder passed away today as well.

I had no idea that he was an assistant coach for the Bengals before he went to the 49'ers. How could they have let him get away?

Good article
He was a visionary that's for sure a trait not shared by many.

air coryell.......his charger teams from the early 80's were the best never to play in a super bowl. i was stationed in san diego then and regret never making it to a game. of course, working on sundays didn't help!

He was a distant relative of mine. never actually met him but if you put a family picture together you would see how much he looked like all the males in the generation before me.

Leukemia tends to run in the family. My Aunt is being treated for it now but I fear that it is too late.

some kind of funny trivia is that my family is from Canton, OH (I know that there are at least a couple on this board from there also). Watch for the next round of Walshes coming up through football in the next decade or so....I am brainwashing my son daily....he can sing a certain fight song and knows all about that certain team.
