You should not have that issue with a rear projection style tv.
It's the plasmas you have to worry about on the burn-in. LCDs will give you dead pixels... RPTVs will have a burned out lamp, or just a dimmer picture till the bulb goes out...

52inch. Is it a 4x3 CRT RPTV? If so, then yes, burn-in might be an issue. Turning down the contrast level may reduce the risk.

Rear projections will definitely get burn in with the black bars. Been there, done that.

But ....YES....a RPTV can get "Burn-in" !!
