Buy two Wiis return one to Best Buy?

OK, I don't want to get into an ethical discussion about this. Just have a question.

I have a $275 gift certificate to Amazon. I'm having a few friends over tonight and we thought it would be fun to have a Wii to play. I was thinking about using the gift certificate to order a Wii from Amazon and then going to Best Buy after working and buying another Wii. I was then going to take back the one that I get in the mail from Amazon next week to Best Buy for a credit back to my card. My question is, Are the Wiis individually tied to receipts at Best Buy? I think that PS3s are tied individually with a serial number or something listed on the receipt, but I can't remember for sure (and had no clue on a Wii). Anyone know? Thanks.

Not sure on Wii's, but 360's and PS3's usually have the serial numbers scanned and are tied to the receipt like you stated.

Ony reason I know this is I was buying 2 PS3's for gifts last year and I ended up having to take one back and I took the wrong one back with the receipt and the store refused to accept the return.
My 360 on the receipt it also noted the serial number of the unit.

Besides the fact that you shouldn't do it it will not work for the serial # issue described.

Don't know for sure, but it would not be unusual.

Used to have friends in college who would buy an entire home theater from Costco for a party and return it. Did it 3-4 times. Would do it with other things as well.

Well to answer my own question, the serial number is on the receipt. I went ahead and just bought it. Had a blast with it at the party. Punch out is great. I'll spend the $275 at Amazon on something else fun.

One diff. here is that they were returning the exact unit they bought. This worked along with the Costco libreral return policy. Costco has tightend this up from what I have read eleswhere.

Yea, Costco is pretty bad with their return policy..

My Neighbor bought a 20 inch CRT television like 10 years ago from there, didn't have a receipt and actually returned it a few months ago. They looked it up in their computer, issued a refund for a few hundred dollars which he put towards a new Vizio LCD.

He told them it didn't work due to the Digital Transition, and they didn't even bother to plug it in and check

Depends on what your definition of bad is: bad for Costco, good for the consumer. If you're on the old electronics policy then it's pretty much no questions asked lifetime return policy on tv's, the new policy will only get you 2 years of coverage. Luckily my Vizio is still on the old policy.
