Thanks for the update

BVN/RNW satellite change to the Americas
June 15th, 2010 - 9:48 UTC
by Andy Sennitt.

For technical reasons, our Dutch-language TV service BVN, and the RNW audio streams, have moved from AMC-4 to SatMex-6 for coverage of the Americas. From 17 June the signal on AMC-4 will be switched off.

Technical details for SatMex-6 are as follows:

* Position: 113.0°W
* Frequency: 12.080 GHz
* Polarisation: Horizontal
* Symbol Rate: 25635 Ks/s
* FEC: 3/4

Wow, that really sucks! I can't get SatMex-6 where my dish is right now.

The Dutch signals will join Chinese channels already on that satellite.

What's the point? :rolleyes:
The "point"? ...I just found it funny, as in:
Satmex seemed like an odd spot for them to move to....that's all. :confused:
But Chinese stuff too? This whole thing is starting to sound like a great
STIR-FRY,
in a WOK.... made from an old dish.....no? :p :D

I really have to wonder why SES chose to build a satellite with poor Caribbean coverage when they had so many customers that wanted Caribbean coverage. Seems like a poor decision to me! There aren't going to be too many full-time FTA channels left on 101.

Radio Netherlands Worldwide carries programming in English. I used to listen to them quite a bit on shortwave.

I think the Dutch services are for Aruba and the Dutch Antilles and Satmex 6 does cover that area
