about 10 days ago I visited fellow forum member Garyd. Really nice guy, and we had some very interesting conversation about some satellite stuff from the days when BUDs were everywhere.
He gave me some surplus equipment, and one of them is particularly intriguing... It is an old C-Band feedhorn, with the standard flange for an LNB and uses a servo similar to the Chaparal polarotor and corotor. But at first sight it looks quite older and shaped a bit like a short telescope... It looks like it could be for an offset dish as it is slightly conical. Gary indicated that it might be a fit for a 4-foot offset dish that he gave me but somehow that feedhorn looks like it should be much older than the dish. I guess it is made of unpainted cast aluminum.
Has anyone seen something like this, and might know a bit more details? I'm curious to find out what it was normally used for, and also how to position it in regards to the focal point
