Few weeks ago I managed to get a 125cm Aluminium Gibertini Offset Dish (One of the best 1.2's you can buy here in Europe)

I decided I wanted to test C-Band here.

I bought a C-Band LNB and offset scalar the LNB is actually one of these 4DTV ones you guys use which are useless for KU here in Europe because none of the satellites with C-Band have KU in the range that LNB has.

Yesterday fitted the dish on KU and saw what kind of signals I could get on weaker ones here in Wales mainly 5E which has a beam over Nordic countries but has a big over spill and it boomed in.

Today decided to move dish around to 5W and fit the C-Band LNB. Without being able to adjust scalar I picked up quiet a few transponders.

CRTV Cameron (Breaking Up)3711 2785 L
GRTS Gambia (Breaking Up)

Tele Congo

Think I'll try for 20E tomorrow or 3.1E depends.

Great reception , especialy with out adjusting the scalar ring . I enjoy play with c band on a homemade 36'' dish here in the mid-west US , but just a few sat's to get decent results on (mainly 99w & 91w) . Conical scalar ring and lnb adjustment is the most critical &Picture 012.jpg hardest part for my set up . Thanks for sharing results & pictures . Hope to see future / better results for you !

Hi Joe, that a nice photo, what's carried on them birds anything interesting being in Wales I have no idea :)

Today tried for 20E, using Viva Deutschland at 19.2E on the KU part of the LNB since that's in the correct range as a guide to where I was.

20E boomed in at 19.2E fine tuned it with DISEQC and got a lock on all the high SR transponders.

Tried for 2.8E the Congo-Kinshasa mux on 4052 R was showing signs of life but no lock.

Here's photo's of my dish where you can see why I can't just the scalar and a video driving between 5w to 20e my flip cam is 30fps but TV is 25fps so there's bars.

I'd say you're getting very good results with the mini-BUD. Seems you have more 'hot' transponders than what we have here.
With that heavy dual band LNBF out there, did you do anything to prevent it from 'drooping'?

No just bolted it to the feed arms and my dad who's much better at metal work than me quickly made the collar mount out of some sheet steel.

He's working on making a better collar out of some exhaust clamps.

With a dish of your size and quality , I could probably pull in a few more channels , but with my make/shift 90cm dish this is all I get on 99w :... WHT/Lesea ch's (old sitcom's & christain programing) , VirginIsland / PuertoRico Mux (abc , nbc , cw , fox & lwn) , GDMX feeds , PreNet & My Family Entetainment , On 91w :... ETWN (Catholic TV) , HorseRacing TV , Quality Assortment of All Music Radio Ch's (about 50 of Them) & The Speed ch (sometimes) Other people report better results , I'm happy to get any . You've got a nice set up , checked out other Gibertini dishes online , seen they have 1.5m also (guessing that's about 5 ft.) . Wouldn't mind trying one out , that size with aluminum construction might just be the thing .

That Virgin Island / Puerto Rico mux sounds interesting to me. Very rarely I see anything from the US over the air networks any more, at one time you'd see them all round the place in European skies.

I am continually shocked by how good my 1m Gibertini is I can't wait to be able to clear the garden and fit the dish in this thread in the middle of the garden where it will have a better arc but for now it's stay where it is.

That tp 3845 H 15030 is one of the strongest on that 99w sat . Just wished it had cbs on it too . I'm 70 miles from St.Louis & 60 miles from Columbia Mo (the nearest towns with OTA tv stations) , OTA is very unreliable . So the PR Mux is on at my house often . Pictures You included didn't look much like English Locals either . Do you have much on FTA from your networks ? My wife's hooked on Larkrise to Candleford (watches it on amazon) which I guess is a BBC production .

Yes we do, all the bigger traditional channels and their spin off's are in the clear at 28.2/5E in KU band. But the UK has a very good terrestrial network with OTA is great due to many many relays (translators) which either carry a full of reduced service of DVB-T muxes.

I'm envious , it's mainly c band big dish here or pay tv (cable/dishnet) unless you live less than 50 miles from a major city .

Okay this is incredible to me at-least I found my first feed from Benin of the African Union Meeting there on 5W 4156 L 1793 very strong signal.

In the past I have used satstar.net to see tp possibilities for 90cm size dishes at my location . It's easy and free (there is a pay side of it too) , I couldn't get signals from everyone the choices it gave me tho . probably my dish's fault . If you haven't used that site , might want to try it to see you're results & possibilities . Looks like you're doing great so far .

Think that site has something to do with lyngsat.com

Cheers

I have to say that your experience with C-band is different from that here in North America. Getting the number of C-band stations you get with an offset 1.2m dish is basically unknown here.

Europeans may not realize it, but the satellite people are bathing you in C-band radiation.

Soon a lot of people over there will have two heads

I've heard stories about 40E where close to Russia you could put a C-Band LNB into the air and point it in roughly the right location and it would come in just by that.

Sadly she was deactivated last weekend so didn't get chance to try to receive that satellite, she'd been serving in an incline orbit for a few years now after having a failure all KU was removed from her. She was one of my favourite locations till then.

Found BBC Arabic on Intelsat 10-02 at 1W breaking up on 4025 R 7324 which I've been told is a great catch on a 1.2m here so I am proud of that.

Probably going to replace the dielectric plate in the LNB soon.

Received my Panorama ER861 LNB, AV-Comm Waveguide Polariser and scalar ring yesterday.

Tried for BBC Arabic on Intelsat 10-02 at 1W this morning and instantly it brought it in with no break up, only the last 10 minutes has it started to break up and its better than it ever was on the older LNB with just a dielectric plate.

Signals increased across the board but no other channel locks yet, I don't think my motor is skewing the dish correctly so that's some thing to look at.

Eutelsat 3A at 3.3E found I think.

Libya Radio Television Mux on 3764 R and L 20330

Also Rascom at 2.8E is showing signs of life, blindscanning is finding a number of transponders including the Pan-African e-Network data transponder on 4023 R 10000
