Anyone have any advice on a particular C-Band LNBF to use with a primestar 1 meter dish to attempt C-Band signal reception?

I suppose you could try something like one of these -

I mention this only because I had occasion recently to try installing one of these on a fixed position 7.5' dish and it seemed to work pretty well (of course this is simply one data point, your results may vary). The scaler ring is adjustable so you could take it off altogether on a small dish, and you might want to when using it on a small dish. It switches polarities in the same way that a DBS satellite does (voltage level switching) so it mates really well with a FTA receiver. And it's fairly inexpensive for a C-band feedhorn/LNB combination (also you don't heed one of those small motors to switch polarities, as you do with most C-band feedhorns).

Having said that, you may not be happy with the result of trying to use a small dish to receive C-band, unless you're trying to get a fairly new satellite with higher power, or your "small" dish is one of the larger versions (three to four feet). I would be very happy to be proven wrong on this point.

By the way, the one complaint I had about that feedhorn was that the scaler ring was missing the set screw, and of course the hole had a metric thread. I had to dig around until I found a small metric bolt that would work. I don't know if the set screw came off during shipment or if someone just forgot to put one in the parts bag, but for want of a screw it took an extra half hour to install the thing (at least I had that metric bolt!).
