anyone know how I can record analog signal off air stuff usinf a 622 DVR?
thereby..... allowing me to connect a vcr and save old tape stuff to the external hard drives........

The 622 tuner detects digital OTA signals only. No, you can not transfer tapes to the 622.

You can't so what you want. You could get the tapes transferred to DVDs though. That might be more practical.

From your sig you have a DVDR - why not archive your tapes to that? Component jack transfer is liable to be higher quality than NSTC encoding and decoding, even if your 622 could do it.

There is one heroic way to get your VHS material onto the DVR, but it's gonna cost you!

Step 1: Copy the VHS to DVD-R disc(s).

Step 2: Buy an ATSC modulator. This one is a mere $500. Play the DVD-R's through your computer and out the ATSC modulator, then tune your Dish 622/722 to the selected DTV channel. Voila

That is a QAM device, not an ATSC modulator, there for it will not connect to your dish DVR...

You are correct! I had to read the fine print. The OP can still buy an ATSC modulator, but it's really gonna cost bug bucks until someone produces a consumer version.

other option, pay local tv station operator to run it during middle of night cheap paid infomercial programming time. Record from dish LIL broadcast or from local subchannel OTA to your dish dvr.

this would probably cost even more than heroic option above.

I have lurked for months on this forum without feeling the need to comment, but this one was so funny, I had to say BRAVO.
