If you OWN the 211s you will be able to keep them but if they are leased you would have to return them to DISH if you upgrade to the Hopper.

There is NO financial advantage to buying a Dish receiver outright anymore for a regular account, except for not having a two-year contract, which would go by quickly anyway. There are NO discounts for owning one. You WILL pay all the same fee's and such as a person just leasing one.

What is wrong with using the Protection Plan and getting a free replacement 722. That will keep things the same as they are except working.

That's exactly what I did with my owned 722, along with my two leased 612s. Got 3 good replacements via DIRT w/no issues. I believe I got the two 612s replaced for free since they were leased, but I had to add the protection plan to get the 722 replaced for low cost.
