Can we keep track of new ATSC 3.0 stations going on the air?

They also don't support MPEG2 and have told developers (aka Silicondust) that they never will. I agree with you that they want their platform free of any broadcast-related RF tuning ability or video decoding.

Now as for the Amazon Fire stick, I can stream OTA video just fine from an HDHR device. So perhaps Amazon will get on board with 3.0, at least in their Fire TV line.

Point made in Roku. But Fire Stick or somebody will likely do it.

That would seem like a job for a Next Gen TV Recast.

Adding tuners to sticks seems like an odd idea and one that is probably fraught with interference and heat problems.

I'm guessing the release of the likely cheapy Korean box is going to be somewhere around the end of the month.

If it costs me less than $250 to get and import it whenever it's released I'm going for it

    Good for you. Report back.

I’d put that money elsewhere, but that’s just me.

What are you going to do with the first one you have, that appears to only work in South Korea?

When I get it back from Phoenix, it'll make a good ATSC 1.0 DVR for me (it runs LG webOS!)

What leads you to conclude that the new one will work in the US market?

We have a LG ATSC 3.0 at our tower. Don’t know if it works though.

    Set top box.

    I haven’t seen it yet.

But I do know at least one of the stations on our tower is looking to start testing 3.0 soon.

    Scott,
Which TV market you are in? Since your local station is about to start a ATSC 3.0!:)

I'm jaded because my area SFN project went down in flames due to repeated equipment failure. I wasn't all that optimistic because I'm don't understand how SFN is going to serve a market that covers tens of thousands of square miles or if there is some manner of hybrid setup that will make it all work.

I was initially hopeful many concepts would be proven out (or fantasy) as my market is filled with all manner of RF propagation pitfalls.

My bet is on WVIT in the New Haven market, it's an NBC O&O

Lots of good lessons in that video.

I'm even more interested in the impacts of interference.

Why? No one except the testing engineers can receive the signal.

The list is unchanged since the last time I posted it, back in December, in this very thread.
