Can you split the signal from one line coming into your room into your tivo so you can watch one show and record another?

The way to "split" a sat signal is with a device called a "Multiswitch". Depending on your configuration, you will need up to 4 lines coming in from your dish. The Multiswitch is an active switch that correctly directs the incoming signal, and sends the correct voltage to your dish to get the correct satellite and polarity for your desired channel. Did I confuse you enough........sorry.

Your tivo should have 2 lines so you can do that. Who installed it?

If money is not a concern, and cost is secondary to vanity or the logistics of running another line (and multiswitch if needed) is unacceptable, and/or you cannot, or do not want two lines ran into that area, and/or you do not want to add a multiswitch (which you'll STILL need 2 lines from it to the tivo), you can use a stacker/dual destacker setup, they are not cheap when compared to the other solutions outlined here, the stacker runs around $300USD and the dual destackers are around $150USD. IIRC, Dish Networks setups have a built-in (de)stacker for their DVRs for this purpose.
