juat decided to save Mom lots of money and put up a FTA dish.. yeah right !!

Spitfire Ku LNBF Mod. ASC 321
Wingard DS-2076 76 cm dish
CW -41 DisEqC switch
Signal Strength 75-80 %
Quality 00 %

Just want to get Sat Mex 5 116.8

Can't get any channels to show up just a couple of Radio

Any Help would be appreciated

there's nothing on that transponder on Satmex6

Use this one
12080 freq
H polarity
25635 symbol rate

12163 MHz

Now i get a strong signal and some quality on the purple meter

and no channels

Do i delete all the other channels and just search with that one channel ?

The feed i was trying to get for my mom is:

sat mex 5, transponder k23
feed type: ku-Band
Frequency: 12163 mnz
Horizontal
data rate: 5.440 Mb/s
synbol rate: 3.9353 Ms/s
FEC: 3/4
PCR PID: 8190 ( 1FFE Hex )

re: 12080 Freq.

Wheni tried the scan to get
12080
H
25635 Symbol rate

I did not get anything.

Do you think i am even on the right Sattelite ?

my reciever showed an orange bar that traveled L to R with a 0 at the end

kept flashing Sat mex 5
11770/30000/ V

That's BYU TV and is a bugger to get if you arent in Colorado, NM, AZ, Utah

is that what you are tryign to pick up?

The dish probably isnt aimed right. Where ya located so we can verify the dish setup (elevation , etc)

my location

Yes ! BYU TV . I told the sales person at Go Satellite.com exactly where i was and told her i wanted to get BYU TV and to sell me something good that would get me Satmex 5 and BYU TV.

I am located in Oakland CA zip code is 94619

i have no trees in the way and a clear shot at the sky.

I can't verify the signal. I know they use a "beam" for it to work and here in Minnesota I can't get it even with a larger dish. I need a 6 footer to get it

I looked on their site and it does show California should be able to get it on KU Band

12163 H 3935

I would try and lock in the other frequency I posted before (the 12080 one) then fine tune in for BYU TV :)

Should i delete all the rest of the channels and just use the one you suggested

12080

and start moving the dish around to search for this one 12080 ?

Thanks for your help !! I had no idea this would be so time consuming...

I know it's only one number different, but I have it logged @ 12162 H 3935 on both the Coolsat @ 68% on an 80cm dish and Pansat @ 36% on a 1.2m dish. What's strange is the Pansat has a PCR PID of 4377, while the Coolsat has a PCR PID of 8190. I'm in the middle of Georgia.
