Network considering ordering multiple seasons of both

By James Hibberd
CBS is close to giving a major commitment to the highest-rated comedy on television, "Two and a Half Men," and this season's half-hour ratings surprise "The Big Bang Theory."

"Men" is being eyed for three seasons.

"Bang" is near a deal for two seasons -- a terrific show of faith to a comedy considered a slow starter just last year.

Chuck Lorre Pleased With CBS' Plans for 'Men,' 'Big Bang'

Chuck Lorre, creator of “Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory,” said he’s “enthusiastic” about the prospect of multiyear renewals for his two CBS comedies.
“It’s a remarkable thing to have happen,” Mr. Lorre told TelevisionWeek Tuesday. “Everyone involved in the show gets to think long-term as opposed to year-to-year. It allows people to plan a life when you get this kind of support.”

Hey, those are two of the best shows on tv, so a multi-year commitment is more than appropriate.

And Bang is without doubt the funniest show on tv. Rock-papers-scissors-lizard-spock! :D

Big Bang - Nice. Shows of this type (heavily stereotypical characters) generally run out of steam when they have either done every joke about the sterotype 15 times or make the mistake of having the character go against sterotype too many times, such that they end up destroying the premise. This show seems several years from either.

2 & 1/2 - Shows of this type (cute kid) usually run out of steam as the kid outgrows the premise, ending up having the kid acting a role he is far too old for, or doing a "Cousin Oliver". This show may be the exception, as they seem to be willing to rework the kid's relationship into a more adult role.

CBS, who would have thunk it, has the last traditional four sitcom night left. That era, which is to me the basis of traditional network TV, is coming to an end.
