All the football games and premiums were in the clear in the early 80's, that's what I think of as the "glory days" ...

Fully agree Don.

I remember driving home from Oakland in 1986, my commute was almost 2 hrs, when i got home my wife asked did I feel the Earthquake.
As i was driving I did not feel it. But, I watch on my BUD , all the live feeds. That was also the day the World Series was going on in SF,
at Candlestick Park.

I agree. Now you can't get your locals free without having to buy something yo get them. No more free tv.

I don't understand, unless you are unfortunately not in a decent OTA reception zone. I'd think a majority of people can receive OTA, taking into account population densities across the country.

Guess I got to the topic late, everything's been mentioned from itc HardBoiledO's, the first gulf war to The Skyvision Show and Shawn K's yellow rain. Might have some VCR tapes of some of them around here somewhere.(??) But no one has mentioned Basil Basset Bingo, Much Music, And, not that long ago, the Canadian Superstation CHCH(was that the call leters??) I liked the late evening movies they ran. (or were they all mentioned before??)

Is "Pastor Arnold Murray" still on the air? It seemed like that guy was on the air 24/7 on C-Band, back in the day. There were another couple of televangelists that seemed to have 24/7 feeds of non-stop preaching as well. Like that guy from the neon cathedral in Los Angeles. Can't remember his name.

Arnold Murray and Shepherd's Chapel is STILL in Analog. G16 (99W) TP16

You're thinking of Gene Scott (old Doc Scott) who would scream "GIT ON THE TELEPHONE!!!"...he died a few years ago but his wife still preaches. She's on 97W under "University Network" or "Doc Scott"

and still broadcast on one of the local OTA's every Sunday morning, 'for an hour @ around 5am, [and regularly promoted via adverts/plugs].
Couldn't tell ya if it's something they've taped or 'live' although I don't think 'live' is all that likely. (not usually up , that late, or early)

Shepherd's Chapel was always my first stop when tracking a dish to get the elevation and azimuth roughly set. I wonder if Arnold Murray realizes how many dishes he helped set up. :D

The University Network was the first signal I ever locked on Ku FTA. I remember in one video, he was sitting in an easy chair, wearing a suit, a huge trucker hat, regular eyeglasses, plus sunglasses out at the tip of his nose, and holding a huge cigar. He would say one sentence of his sermon really slowly and then leave a long pause while he puffed on his cigar.
