Cinemax Hd To Launch Friday

It would be nice if they offered a way to purchase just the HD versions of the channels, though. I never watch the SD versions of the movie channels at all, so to get the HD movie channels I want I'm also having to pay for the SD channels I don't ever watch. I know this won't happen, just wishful thinking.

Honestly it's not a bad idea. Not just because I think it is cool, but what if they offered an Limited Platinum HD. You would get only the premiums in HD, but the cost would be $5 or $10 less than the regular full package. I guarantee you will get a LOT more premium subscribers. There would also probably be few that drop from the Platinum to the HD only platinum, since they are probably used to it and figure it's only $5 or $10.

I really do find it hard to order premium channels like HBO when I would only watch the HD version, but for $5-$10 less than the full package, I would probably consider. Wonder if they would be required to pay out the same per/sub to HBO?

I wonder how much of the content on Cinemax HD is HD vs. scaled SD w/ some scattered A/B-list HD features...is there that much HD soft porn out there ;)?

Overall, though, I recall Cinemax HD being home to a few good films back in the V* days...not many new releases qualify unfortunately, so the well-served catalog titles (speciality of Cinemax and Movie Channel) might be nice. Good news.

Back when I had the original Voom, HBO HD and Cinemax HD seemed to mirror many of their new releases on each others channels with a 2 month delay. Not sure if this is still true now.

As far as I can tell, you are the only one doing flaming right now. Lets keep the conversation civil, please.

Ah a classic chance to test the "report post" option. "click" There. Consider "pigthrust" and his childish posts brought to the attention of a moderator.

I occasionally check both versions out to compare audio and video drops. I recorded one short program several times in HD, this was an upconverted program, and it had transmission errors at the same points in 3 recordings. In SD there were no problems. What's up with that???????????????

Could be a problem with the upconverter not liking the frame in the program. If it caught the same spot every time there's probably a key frame borked. Happen sometimes with upconverts.

So, another HD channel I won't get because I don't subscribe to Cinemax, yet I do subscribe to HD. If you subscribe to HD, you should at least get the HD version of all available HD channels.

Well that will never happen! What entitles people with HD to get premium movie channels without buying the package?

just remember if you want everything you have to pay for everything AEP +hd, yes its expensive but at least u dont really need the whole "all sub" list cuz you will have 99% of wats on the all chan list.

"...Wonder if they would be required to pay out the same per/sub to HBO?..."

Yes, they are.

Wowwwww, that is the first. I never seen anyone get banned from this site before.

We ban people for flaming, spamming, and hack-talk. Spamming idiots happen regularly (almost always with a post count of 1); Hackers are usually sent to the wood shed by the 'Berg. Flaming is the least common - which is because this is such a great community; we can disagree, we don't call each other nasty names.

Yep, it rarely happens here except for the hacker morons. This is one place that I feel 100% comfortable giving my opinion without worry of someone coming in and calling me names or trying to prove how much smarter they are than me. That is one of the great things about this place!

Absolutely. A year ago I joined a classical guitar forum, and while it was a friendly place, its nothing like SatelliteGuys.

I want TVLand in HD!

LOL!!! This is too funny!

I know that was a joke. I HOPE that was a joke. But I guess the filmed series reruns could be remastered into HD but with the dreaded pillar box.... or worse! The TV Land could take the TNT approach and make the channel "blow!" :D But there is nothing you can do with videotaped series. You can't make a diamond out of a turd (resolution-wise anyway)

See ya
Tony
