Colony Series Premiere: The Less We Know the Better http://www.tv.com/news/colony-season-1-episode-1-pilot-review-145273869492/?ftag=YHF764e441
Colony dropped us in the middle of occupied Los Angeles—occupied by what is not exactly clear. The deadly, ominously vague threats known as the Hosts have divided up sections of California (and presumably the world) with force, leaving humans to function in a quasi-familiar version of the lives they once lived. It's not an apocalyptic wasteland—there's still high school, after all—but jobs and medicine are scarce, curfew is tight, military forces roam the streets, and craven one percenters relish the spoils of joining forces with the unseen Hosts. At the center of all this is, per usual, a family: Will (Lost's Josh Holloway), Katie (The Walking Dead's Sarah Wayne Callies), and their three two children. When Will subverted protocol and tried to reach Santa Monica to find his middle child that went missing during the Host's arrival, he's swept up in the battle between Snyder (Peter Jacobson), LA's Proxy Governor and alien conspirator, and the burgeoning insurgency.

USA Drama ‘Colony’ Grows in Key Demos With Second Episode https://www.yahoo.com/tv/ratings-usa-drama-colony-grows-key-demos-second-001308382.html
USA, which was successful in attracting a younger-audience profile for “Mr. Robot” last summer, is off to a good start in doing the same with “Colony.”Last Thursday’s second episode of the sci-fi drama from Carlton Cuse (“Lost”) and Ryan Condal (“Hercules”) was up vs. its Jan. 14 premiere across the board in Nielsen’s “live plus-3” estimates — including by 4% in adults 18-49 (1.17 million vs. 1.12 million) and by 9% in adults 25-54 (1.34 million vs. 1.23 million). And that premiere stood as USA’s TOP-rated series launch in 18-49 (0.88 rating) and 25-54 (1.04) in five years, and ranked fifth among the week’s top basic cable dramas in both categories.“Colony” has proven to be an especially big gainer in delayed viewing, and its second episode spiked from “same-day” to “live plus-3” by nearly 140% in both 18-49 and 25-54 and by 116% in total viewers (2.72 million vs. 1.26 million). In addition to the 3.4 million people who watched one of the two pilot airings on Jan. 14, more than half a million people sampled the episode during a TARGETED, two-week pre-linear release on select digital platforms including USAnetwork.com, Hulu, the USA Network App and VOD.
