computer tuner problems

i just got time warner cable. the line is split and one coax goes to my tv and the other to my computer. for some reason my reception on my tv is fine. on my computer though, i receive all the channels but they are horribly fuzzy. i took off the splitter and plugged the coax into my computer and get the same result. if i plug in the coax from my tv antenna i get all my local channels on my computer and they are flawless. i don't know why i can't get cable to work with my computer's tuner? is there anything i can do to correct this?

Does your tuner have a setting to configure it for CATV ?

yes, i have it set to cable.
