Hi, All. I thought about asking here too. Since 3 days ago all the Cuban channels on Hispasat @ 30W are nor working properly. I seems intermittent , suddenly signal starts jumping down and up for a few seconds or even minutes sometimes. Sometimes it stays ok for several minutes or longer periods but the funny thing is the rest of the transponders are perfect ad even with clear skies here in Toronto and in Jaruco, Mayabeque, Cuba where I think they Uplink the signal so I really suspect is not my local issue. It all started 2 nights ago, I think around 1 AM or 2 AM, I was watching the movie Gone Girl on Cubavision and suddenly I lost all signal form only that cuba multiplex or transponder. The rest were all perfectly fine and the night was full of stars. Back in the morning the signal had come back but I think it had that issue of being jumpy all the time or maybe I did not check long enough to notice it. I am surprise that after almost 3 days the cuban engineers have not fixed it so maybe it is indeed a local issue in my setup only affecting the cuban mux and not the rest of the transponders on Hispasat 30W.

Can someone please check that cuban mux at Hispasat 30W (11884 V 27500) to confirm it is not a local issue on my setup?. I also asked over at the other forum , and gently someone replied the signal seem to be fine but then again sometimes you kind of have to wait for it to fail or show problems apparently. It seems to me it is an origin or source problem rather than just locally at my setup Thanks in advance.

It's hurricane that struck Cuba and poor government system trying to keeping thing up and not working thanks to their outdated electrical systems that are probably 50+ years old.

Simply put they are falling apart...😛

Thanks everyone for your replies. No , the 6.8 earthquake and its lesser replicas happened so far away in the eastern end of Cuba and it all happened before the earthquake. Cuba uplinks those Hispasat signals from the Earth Station in Jaruco, a few miles south of the Havana capital in the western portion of Cuba. I bet there was an issue with their uplink dish equipment, probably the Ku Transmitter LNB maybe, because at some point this afternoon they may have been trying to fix it. At some point it came back but this time like 2 dB C/N below normal values like an hour earlier. But then suddenly after it was getting dark around 5 to 6 pm it all went out again and it has not come back.

At least now I know there is nothing wrong with my setup so I don't have to worry playing with it. I guess I will have to wait until it all comes back. Hopefully sooner than later. Cheers. JJ

Ship them a truckload of electrons to help them out.

Not to get this into Bob's Pit territory, but I wonder if they can transcend this without major political changes and concessions. Without China setting up a base there.

NOTE TO MODS: If you think I have crossed a line here, please delete what you want, but leave the first paragraph.

At 10 pm ET it was already working and apparently, they finally fixed it for good because there was a big rain storm tonight in Toronto and the signal barely blinked for just a few seconds. I can finally continue to enjoy the Premier12 baseball Tournament on Tele Rebelde then !. Thanks everyone for their input. Cheers.

Hello again, since yesterday April 13 the Cuban Mux on Hispasat 30W is not working anymore. Today Lyngsat.com is showing an update dated yesterday April 13 claiming that TP is empty now so apparently Cuba has pulled the plug on those cuban channels on Hispasat. Does anyone know anything?. Can someone confirm they are gone for good? Are they now on a different satelite? I did a blind scan on Hispasat and cant find them anymore. My SatBuddy meter its Spectrum Analyzer shows nothing now on that cuban TP.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

It's on 67 W*...
Thanks N5XZS !, Uff but impossible from my location in Toronto ! as per SES 10 coverage it only covers half of the USA and the Caribbean. Thanks ! . I can see now even Tele Rebelde and Multivision are ITC ! before they were encrypted with BISS. And now they are also sending CV and TR in HD which are acctualy 2 "different channels" specially during sports tournaments with 2 concurrent games for instance they usually send cuban baseball on TR SD but the Spanish LaLiga Real Madrid or Barcelona Game on the TR HD channel. TR carries all RM and Barcelona games live in Cuba.

The new location or signal on 67W SES is finally now DVB-S2 8PSK at 11930 V with nice easier 2/3 FEC and increased 28800 SR as reported by Lyngsat but heck the new footprint on SES 10 kills me so I dont think in Toronto I will get it not even with a 1.2m Ku Dish that I dont either have.

Thanks again N5XZS!

BTW, Can someone please confirm if now on SES 10 that cuban Mux the EPG works ok? I mean they always had the timestamp or AUTO time setting on the receiver wrong, always out of synch with ET timezone, always delayed by a lot BTW however on the same Hispasat 30W bird the TVE Mux and DW HD channels had the EPG properly working and the FTA receiver time setting was correctly in synch when set as AUTO with ET as the time zone selected when I tuned to TVE or DW but as soon as I changed to tune the cuban Mux it was always a mess I could never figure out. I think the root cause is maybe that the cuban engineers were sending the cuban timezone or ET timezone in the timestamp of the TP rather that UTC that is probably what everybody else set the timestamp to but I have no idea. Thanks in advance.
