It it ok to load a factory file through usb because I cant get it to work with the cable.

Yes

1. Put the factory file onto a USB drive or stick
2. connect to USB port on receiver
3. Press "USB" key on remote
4. Select the factory file in the list that you see
5. Answer "Yes" to the update question.

The receiver will load the file and flash it to memory. It will then ask you if you want to reboot. Answer "Yes" and it will reboot, running on the factory file.
