DEI denies junior use of number 8

What do you all think would happen if Jeff Gordon were to change teams from Hendricks to someone else.

I bet Jeff would take his number with him where ever he goes, or could you see Dale Sr. moving to a different team and having to use a different number ?

I think you are correct, I remembered the Wrangler car but was unsure of the number, but I think you've got it. !

Believe me, they would work something out, I DO believe that Gordon would end up with the number 24 regardless.

They do, each year they offer the same numbers to the team that had it last, if they want it, it's theirs, if not , it's available.

I suppose it's still a possibility that th DEI group could have a change of heart and give it to him, but time is running out as they will need to get sponsorhip and merchandise out soon for next year.

No, Dale Sr. did, Jr. was wanting to gain 51 % of the company in order to stay with DEI and Theresa wouldn't go for it. Dale sited poor cars ect. for his desire to leave, that DEI was not doing enough with testing and such for his liking.

It kinda depends, here's an example going in the opposite direction to what I've been talking about.
Mark Martin (Very Classy guy and racer as well)
He's now with DEI.
As far as I'm concerned, he drives the #6 and always will.
IF Theresa wants to save any grace, she will give the # 8 to Mark and it might help ease the issue of the # 8.

The # 8 has ALWAYS been in the Earnhardt family.
No one that I know of has ever ran the #8 other than an Earnhardt.
I think that has to stand for something.

This could be so easy, if Theresa was willing to do the right thing.
It's a shame Dale Sr is not around, of course we would not be having this discussion, but if Jr wanted to move on Dad would have given him the 8 to go with him .... See the # 8 was driven by HIS Dad and Jr started driving it in honor of his Grandpa.
BTW, I remember Sr. stating that the number belonged to Jr. a few years before he passed.

I never said anything of the sort. However, to tell the truth I do not have a favorite driver. I watch the races with some regularity however, I do not own any NASCAR merchandise be it t-shirts or toy cars.

Riki Rachtman is that tattooed up fool who appears on NASCAR RaceDay on SPEED with John Roberts, Kenny Wallace, and Jimmy Spencer. You know that clown that started all of that nonsense about “free the 8” or “save the 8” or whatever the hell it was. Well he used to host a show a long time ago on MTV called Headbangers Ball.
