Forgive my ignorance but I am just starting with this. :)

My question is, would it be possible to have a PCi DVB card pick up on Digicipher 2 FTA signals? Or are they totally different species?

Good question. I want to know this.

I think Motorola is the manufacturer of 4DTV. They should make a 4DTV "Digicipher 2" smart card.

According to the TSReader's site you can Decodes MPEG-2 tables with DVB, ATSC and Digicipher II extensions. But they don't mention which DVB cards are compatible.

You can not decrypt a DC2 signal to make it useable.

The TSReader software can see the associated tables, but can't decrypt the signal.

I don't have my cband dish set up yet, so I might not fully understand, but I thought the FTA digicipher channels would work like FTA DVB channels. Isn't digicipher just an extension of the MPEG2 standard like DVB? I can see why the encrypted channels wouldnt' work though.
