Echostar TR-40 vs DTVPal digital to analog converters

I am trying to locate a distributor in Jacksonville for the Echo Star TR-40 or
DTVPal converter. Is there any actual differences between the two other
than the price and name? All of the sites I've gone to indicate that they
are pretty much the same unit.

They are the same thing. TR-40 was the original name for it when they were showing it at the trade shows are the beginning of the year. Whne they actually started shipping they changed the name to DTVPal.

I have a Digital Stream DTX9950 and a Zenith DTT901.

The Zenith has a better picture than than the DS (the DS is darker), but the DS locks onto the signal better, so it's kind of a toss up between the two. The site I listed in my previous post has some good info on the DTV conversion boxes.

Thanks for that link Larobpra! It is essential we know about these boxes before buying them. No 2 are the same. I have a free gift card to get a "Insignia" or an "Apex" but I won't bother until I find out more about them.Does anyone else have any links of converter box reviews?
