I would like to share a single RG-6 cable between a satellite input signal and standard TV VHF/UHF signal. I have installed the set of diplexers, one in my cable interconnect panel with the cable from the dish connected to Sat port and the shared cable to the in/out port, and the other at the receiver with in/out port connected to other end of shared cable and Sat port connected to receiver input (through the adapter provided by the satellite company. There are no connections right now to the TV ports on the diplexers.

With this setup, the receiver sees no input signal. However, if I replace either one of the diplexers with an coax coupler, the signal is good.

Any ideas what might be the problem.
