There are only 2 Dishes that you typically would use for current equipment ...
A Slimline3/5 or a SWM Slimline 3/5

Can't believe you re opened a 7 year old thread. :eek

It fits they use it in Hawaii as well

Well, then that would be the best way to go if you think Signal Strength is the issue, not knowing if the footprint makes it far enough north, it's a cost that the user would have to foot and be prepared if it doesn't help.

They are not cheap.

According to the Satmaps, you aren't going to have much luck getting hd that far into Canada, regardless of the size of the dish you use.

HI IM LOOKING TO BRING MY DIRECT TV UP TO ALBERTA.
WOULD MY SWM5 DISH WORK GOOD OR WOULD I NEED TO BUY THE 1.2M ALASKA HAWAII DISH?
PLEASE ADVISE

If you have good equipment to help aim it you likely would be ok with the slimline dish, may have a few weak transponders or such. Best is to look around in Edmonton, I'm sure like many Canadian cities you'll see some american dishes around. If you don't it may be a sign that it is too far north over the border. I've traveled around parts of Ontario and noticed several Dish and Directv dishes in cities close to the border.

No, it's against Canadian law (apart from being a breach of the DirecTV terms of service).

Thanks everyone...so im thinking the 1.2m dish would be my best bet?
Would i pick up HD with this dish?
sorry im new to all this may be a dumb question?
