I'm in South Jersey, just outside Philly and there are several bars in my neck of the woods that have both Comcast and DTV. I'm sure they'd love to drop Comcast but they need it for NBC Philly.
I did the one in Downtown Detroit and Ypsilanti.
It's up to the franchise if they choose to go with directv.
This kind of scenario, where the NFL partners with more than one distributor, with at least one of them being an online streaming distributor, is looking more likely based on this new story today:

Sounds like the NFL wants to continue to offer Sunday Ticket via DTV satellite but not exclusively through that platform. They also want at least one streaming distributor.
One of the articles I read .. headline made it sound like they were going to go on and make streaming an option and that it wouldn't be on Directv ...

Which when you read the article, it never said anything about it Not being on D*.

however, I'd be pissed if they are still talking AND leaving that stupid bouncing BS on the screen ...
If I watched any of those channels, I'd be calling them (Viacom) and complaining and telling them that I can do without them if thats the way they treat something that MAY happen.

My only issue with streaming sports is the ridiculous lag time. Fox sports go and the nbc sports apps are roughly 30 to 60 seconds, and SiriusXM exceeds 2 minutes. While traveling, trying to follow a game or race on xm is pointless, since most major sports sites are updating within seconds of real-time, and people are already commenting about a play within milliseconds on twitter and reddit. So hopefully whoever the nfl chooses can get the lag within 20 seconds.
That's not really possible. The reason they have that lag time is to account for potential network delays along the path. The less lag, the greater the chance of dropouts or pixelation occurring which a LOT more people will complain about than lag time.
Lag is going to be a problem for live streaming for a long time to come yet.
Another issue with streaming the games is Data Usage and Caps.
I don't and won't pay for Unlimited data, be it for home or the cell.
If you are that into a sporting event shouldn't you know, actually be watching the sporting event and paying attention to it? Instead of reading a bunch of gibberish online written by a bunch of opinionated nobodies.
The way I look at it is, there NO LAG at all, if you just watch the game, instead of looking at multiple outlets.
As someone who over the past 10 years has only been subject to data usage caps on cellular data for the 15 months or so I was on Verizon, I cannot relate. I cannot image keeping track of usage or purposely limiting myself not to use the device I shelled out $1K for because there's no wifi in range.
While I personally think streaming video on a 6" phone is beyond idiotic, when I have a 55" TV, if I'm not at home and am board enough and have the desire to, having the option to stream video without caring about usage is great.
Because half the fun is debating, criticizing, and discussing what's going on. Besides tony romo, who is a borderline prophet, most national tv and radio commentators and sports writers are trash. All they do is spout generic uninteresting storylines, that some producer is force feeding them. They have next to no knowledge of the inner workings of local teams. So I would rather read what other fans of a team have to say than listen to joe buck, collinsworth, and the dozens of other windbags. 99% of the time the volume is either muted or turned way down.
Also in football and baseball, there is a good 30 seconds plus of down time between every play.
I've been very impressed with romo, he knows what he's talking about, not many ex-NFL players do, they just spout out BS.
I do hope ST stays on DTV and goes to all providers, it's time for the NFL to open it to everyone, including streaming, though I'm against that as the only option, my Internet drops every day here, so it would be unbearable to try and watch a 3 1/2 hour game streaming. Plus I like watching on my TV through my provider, not via an App.
Perhaps several years from now NFLST will go streaming-only but it's way too early for that now. They'd be losing too many potential subscribers at this point if they didn't also distribute through satellite and/or cable TV.
They can't go streaming without loosing money.
Right now the NFL gets a fixed amount of money regardless of who subscribes.
If the exclusivity thing goes away, AT&T and whoever else carries it will want to pay on a per subscriber basis.
Also without the exclusivity the rate will likely match MLB.Tv which is about $100 per season.
With MLB, it's $100 for 161 days.
Your paying roughly $320 for 16 days.
People won't go for it. Very rarely do I see someone buy Sunday ticket because they want it.

Huh? Directv has a LOT of customers who only subscribe because of NFLST. For a big NFL fan (or sports bettor) $20 a week is cheap. No way it would go to $100 if the exclusivity is lost. Directv has already demonstrated people will pay $300 for it, why would they sell it for $100 and need 3x as many buyers to get the same revenue?
What I think will happen if Directv loses the exclusivity and there's a streaming option is that the streamer will introduce a single team option. Maybe you'll be able to get that for $100, though if I were pricing it I'd go for $150 - a lot of NFLST subscribers get it because their team is out of market and they can't watch their games OTA, but don't care much about the rest of the games. So again, if that was made too cheap it would cost them revenue.

I honestly can't remember the last time a residential customer came to me and said they wanted to get Directv because of Sunday Ticket.
When I was selling Dish pre 2012, I remember we would loose a few sales in September because of not having Sunday Ticket, and we would get a few disconnects from customers signing up not realizing Dish didn't have Sunday Ticket.
But for all my years being in the business, I can't remember Sunday ticket either being an issue closing sales, or preventing sales in the case of Dish.
I hate to say it, even when I sell Just internet people generally subscribe to whatever is the cheapest available.
It's hard to sell even a DVR.
Unless it's included, or offered as a free Trial, people typically don't want it.
I have even seen a trend lately where people don't even want the free trial offers because they don't want to forget to cancel them.
I love it when HBO or Starz comes to my office to visit, they always say to my staff not to encourage customers to cancel after the free trial.
I'm like let me see, $40 in basic programming for a year with Directv, but the movie channels are $54 after 3 months.
Yupp, we encourage people because if they can't pay the bill we get charged back
