DIRECTV HAS LAUNCHED ALTITUDE IN HD 24/7
All 2009-10 Season Games on Altitude to Air in High-Definition

Following its recent announcement that all Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets games this year will be available in high-definition (HD), Altitude Sports & Entertainment has launched Altitude programming in full-time HD on DIRECTV, and is now available in 5.1-channel surround sound. DIRECTV is currently the only satellite TV provider to offer Altitude in HD on a 24/7 basis.

In addition to Avalanche and Nuggets game coverage, Altitude's full-time HD channel (DIRECTV viewer channel 681) will carry all regular network programs with enhanced quality. "This is a significant milestone both for the network and the teams," said Matt Hutchings, Altitude's EVP/COO. "We are thrilled to see that our relationship with DIRECTV is growing and that we can provide more for our customers."

"DIRECTV is proud to be the leader in HD sports television," said Reagan Feeney, vice president, Programming Acquisition, DIRECTV, Inc. "Expanding our HD coverage of Altitude to twenty-four-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, is one more way to provide our customers the best television viewing experience available."

Another sports channel that no one's watching. How about real channels like Travel HD. All these regional sports channels means nothing. How can you watch them when everything is blacked out on them. If you want to watch any professional sports today, you have to pay extra (NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA packages) unless is on a non regional channel like ESPN, NHL, NFL, etc. So I don't even know why they offer these Regional Sports Channels. Directv, start adding some real HD channels that are missing from your lineup.

Yup, its like the Weather channel PR from yesterday. They seem to send out their press releases a week after they do something.

The press release for this was sent out overnight.

speaking of which, i just got the release about local on the 8's in hd and that's as old as altitude going full time. yikes.
