Looks like the affected stations don't want to lose their advertising revenue from the Super Bowl. The stations are back on the air while they continue to negotiate a retrans deal.

From DIRECTV We're Negotiating to Keep Your Local Broadcast Station on DIRECTV
DIRECTV & Northwest Broadcasting Have A Temporary Deal
We're happy that Northwest granted our request to put the channels back on while we negotiate a deal. Please enjoy the stations in their normal channel location.

Not to sidetrack this thread, but does anyone else feel that cable and satellite companies should not have to pay money to local broadcast stations at all? My opinion is that if a station is broadcasting to their market for no cost to the viewers who use an antenna, how are they harmed if a cable or satellite company takes that signal and re-transmits that same signal to that same market?

There is no harm to them, provided that the cable or satellite company doesn't replace the OTA channel's commercials with their own and/or other commercials that they have sold. If they are doing the latter, then they do need to pay a retransmissions fee to the station they are rebroadcasting.

That completely makes sense...which is why the NAB would never go for it.
