No surprise here; good for them. I hope they cut off most of the unwarranted freebies for threats.

Lets not go too over the top, giving customers a freebie or a discount once or twice a year is an incredible retention tool to cut churn. If anything they may tighten some, perhaps be more account specific - an area they have really increased the past couple years.

I don't know the exact numbers, but perhaps they could reduce the monthly fees for everyone by 5% if they didn't give away the farm to disgruntled customers. That would keep more of us in the fold if you ask me, not that you did! :)

Cut back on programming expenses? Not like they have plans to add any new basic HD anyway. At least not until 2013 / 2014, you know after the world has ended.

so true. But they always seem to give the farm to people especially with the out of market sports packages

I am not talking about the once in a while reward or to satisfy a major issue, but the peeps that threaten just to get a comp has gotten way outta control. Those the usually hop from provider to provider to play the system. Cut 'em loose.

Cut the CEO and other executive officers pay and bonuses and save billions. LOL

Yawn; this leans to an overly socialist anti-corp like comment. You don't know their worth or what they have done to earn it and I may also bet you don't even know exactly what they make. Don't be so fast to paint all company leaders with such a wide brush. Many busted and continue to bust their asses to get where they are and take huge risk to make those dollars. I don't see many Joe Schmos like us running or creating global multi-billion dollar companies. Most people make these type of comments with zero facts because its simply cool right now to say it.

Does this mean that DirecTV has found another excuse to refrain from catching up on non-premium HD? (Channels like BBC America HD, E! Entertainment Televison HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, Turner Classic Movies HD, etc.)

Cut the pay of those responsible for running the company, providing service for customers, and creating countless numbers of jobs? Take away any incentive for them to grow the company to profit even more which in turns creates even more jobs and allows increase in pay to those working?

That makes sense.

And do you notice how many jump into agreement when one person makes such a comment? Compare the number of likes on his post to that of yours.

Most people don't realize that most millionaires and billionaires in this country are wealthy not because they were born that way, but because they made money to do so. They made money by creating something or investing in something (taking a risk) that benefits more people than just themselves.

They think capital if fixed and if they have billions then others are missing out. It is so easy to use them as scapegoats for many of the issues, not realizing that they would probably be worse off if these wealthy people did not do what they did to become wealthy.

you socialist hippies have absolutely ZERO idea what business really is or how to run one or what it takes for the vast majority of company leaders to get where they are. get back to us when you are running a successful global organization.

now lets see all the posts that follow describing all the trumped up job titles and global orgs they run LOL.. all these 18 - 30's still sucking off the family wallet or go nowhere dropouts that think the world owes them every handout because they didnt bust their humps to get ahead on their own and now they really see what the hard- working world is really like.

And to add, the leaders of these companies are one of the main reasons why this country is the most successful and prosperous country in the world. One can look at every country in the world and see a strong correlation between quality of life and capitalism.

I know you are not worried. I was just using it as an example of how easy it is for people to blindly blame a small group of people (now it is the top 1% that is blamed for all of the problems, in the past it was other groups of people)
