That would be great if true, the Tivo was a great receiver, only things it needed was MPEG4 and a faster processor.

The HR20 is a pile of crap which should not have been released ithe way it was (unfinished and very buggy)

Be interesting to see if they take the company in a new direction- and if they go after Dish.

Not sold at all, WSJ is reporting the deal will probably be finalized in 2 weeks, as News Corp and Liberty will do money and asset swaps to ease the tax burden on Liberty for the transaction. If this does go through, it'll be interesting to see what unfolds for the future of D*. Maybe we can get TIVO back on the dvrs, hehe :)

The bad news is it went from a Media Guy to a Financial Guy who just happens to make money in this field.

TCI and Starz should give you some hints as what is instore long term.

Tivo's not coming back guys, just give it up. Waaaaay too much invested in the DVR Plus platform. Plus the HR20 is a pretty solid receiver for most.

The HR20 isn't a pile of crap. It was, however, released far too soon. They should've worked out the bugs and had the OTA ready right out of the box. And the fact they underestimated the demand was pretty stupid too. But the box seems to record shows as its intended to do.

Tivo and D* belong together...a good match...let's hope that happens.

Liberty Media Gets DirecTV

Report: News Corp. to Buy Off Liberty Media With DirecTV Stake

NEW YORK (AP) -- Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. will transfer its controlling stake in satellite broadcaster DirecTV Group Inc. to Liberty Media Corp. as part of a deal to buy News Corp. stock back from Liberty, according to a published report.
An article on The New York Times' Web site early Thursday said Liberty will get DirecTV, three regional sports networks and $550 million in cash for its News Corp. shares under a deal brokered Wednesday between Murdoch and Liberty's Chairman John Malone.

In return, New York-based Liberty would give up its 19 percent voting stake and 15 percent nonvoting stake in News Corp., the newspaper reported, citing a banker and an executive close to the deal.

The stake threatened Murdoch's control of his media conglomerate.

Liberty Media, based in Englewood, Colo., owns the QVC home shopping network, the Starz Entertainment movie channel and other media assets.

I don't know about the new guy, but does anyone know of any company or publication Murdoch has ever acquired and made better for the consumer?

How could the new guy do worse or make more stupid decisions for D* than NewsCorp?
