Not sure if you've really researched this, but you ARE aware that this receiver is probably 4-5 DirecTV receiver generations behind, & is pretty long in the tooth.
Not sure if this is your only receiver, but it will NOT do whole-home DVR, either, like all the other D* HD receivers do.
re dishrich's comment - I doubt whether anyone here would recommend the THR22. It's old. slow and and is not in DirecTV's current technology. If you have a single receiver and want to upgrade, get a Genie HR44/54.
Assuming you are talking about the THR22, then some people prefer the old TiVo interface, but that's partially because the TiVo is uncluttered by all the functionality DirecTV has introduced, which is missing on the TiVo. Fact remains, it's a "dead" product, there will be no new functionality on the DirecTiVo. And there won't even be any upgrade for the THR22 to the functionality of the current non-DirecTV product line.
