Expect the official press release today.

DirecTV will premiere a Masters Mix Channel for all four rounds of play. It will include a channel devoted to Augusta's Amen Corner (holes 11, 12 and 13) and one devoted to holes 15 & 16. Both of these channels will have dedicated cameras and announcers.

Another channel on the mix will be devoted to tournament highlights, and the final one will carry ESPN coverage from the first 2 rounds, and the CBS coverage of the final two rounds.

All four of the above channels will be on the mix channel and will be viewable simultaneoulsly for subs with the correct (interactive) receivers.

This expanded coverage is free.

Cool. Like Dish did with the French Open in tennis last year with the Tennis Channel.

Here it is again, straight from the horses mouth.... DIRECTV to Offer First Interactive, Multi-Screen Coverage of Masters Tournament

The Masters Mix Channel will be available on DIRECTV channels 701 (standard-definition) and 706 (high-definition) and will offer the following views within a single screen, including:
  • View One – CBS and ESPN’s live coverage of the Tournament.
  • View Two – “Today’s Highlights” offers a continuously updating loop of the best shots from the day’s play with voice-over providing context and commentary.
  • View Three – “Amen Corner” provides complete coverage of the most famous stretch – holes 11, 12 and 13 – of Augusta National Golf Club. The channel will provide a continuous view of play as the field challenges this most treacherous part of the course.
  • View Four – Holes 15 (the par 5 Firethorn) and 16 (the par 3 Redbud) spotlights this especially difficult part of the course, which can make or break a golfer’s round.

This is going to be great. It's one of the few times I watch the whole tournament all year.

How much is DirecTV charging?

"DirecTV's Shanks says the Masters Mix will be free this year — and stay that way. "It's a four-day event, and it's a tough value proposition to ask somebody to plunk down money for four days."
