Since getting installed last week Ive been having problems with the digital audio out. Both optical and coaxial.
When I first turn on the receiver after it's been off for awhile I have no sound.
Doing the following has brought it back but I have to try something different most times.
1. Unplugging and replugging the cable.
2. Switching Channels
3. Switching imputs on receiver (example from Sat audio to cd audio and back)
4. Starting a recorded show
5. Just waiting it out
Once sound is running I'm fine until turning off unit. If I turn on again with a short period I still have audio. It's when I've been off for some time.
Of course I've troubleshooted with various cables, inputs and other hardware. All cables and 4 other pieces of equipment work fine.
However my tech support call with Direct (my first) went like this:
1. You can't use optical out with a HDMI cable hooked up - I point them to the manual where it says you can and in addition ask how it works once I get it working.
1. It's your tv! - I tell them I'm not running sound through the tv.
2. It's your receiver - I tell them the receiver works on all other equipment.
3. It's your cable - I tell her the cable has been troubleshooted.
At this point I ask for the 3rd time, any chance I have a faulty HR-20 and she says Absolutely Not.
So finally I convince her to send a tech out. Any idea what could cause this?
