DirecTV To Use Program Guide Tech
Tuesday December 2, 6:05 pm ET

LOS ANGELES (Dow Jones)--Hughes Electronics Corp.'s DirecTV unit will
begin licensing Gemstar TV Guide International Inc. (NasdaqNM:GMST -
News)'s interactive program guide in January.

The specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

In a press release Tuesday, Gemstar said it will then begin receiving
revenue directly from DirecTV, as opposed to DirecTV's set-top box
suppliers, as it does under the current system.

The new agreement enables DirecTV to use Gemstar technology and
information in its own interactive program guide, or other products
supplied by its vendors.

DirecTV plans to launch the TV Guide Channel on its most popular
programming package in the first quarter of 2004....

Eeek! It's Digital Cable from the Sky!

When I had Digital Cable I HATED TV Guide Interactive!

Yuch...

Is that the guide where there is 75% advertising of garbage and 25% guide?

That's the biggest reason I left Comcast cable!
