Question for KyL416: big mess coming up in Miami... what do you think DTV will do with the new ABC affiliate in Miami on August 4th when it moves to the FOX affiliate's sub-channel 7.2 ? The current ABC affiliate WPLG becomes an independent and will stay on Channel 10... so, does DTV insert the new ABC station on Channel 10 and kick WPLG out of the Guide (to keep ABC where viewers expect it) or does it create a 7-2 number for ABC in the Guide and keep Channel 10 where it is ? There is already a Channel 6 and a Channel 8 in Miami so they can't insert the new ABC on Channel 6 or 8 to avoid creating the 7-2 number. Thanks for any help with this !

WPLG has every right to keep their cable and sat carriage on channel 10.

If they have a carriage deal in place, they'll probably put WSVN-D2 on channel 5 or 9
Thanks, KyL416... Good to know WPLG-10 will be protected after August 4th.... I guess we'll find out in July in this forum where ABC will be placed when DTV begins testing the new signal.

DirecTV will probably use whatever PSIP channel number WSVN chooses to use for their subchannel, assuming they reach a acarriage deal with DIRECTV. In other markets with two major networks are on subchannels of one transmitter, they assign them different PSIP numbers, without any subchannel designation.

Thanks, Tom, it'll be interesting to see what DTV does because in order for these changes to take place alot of moving pieces have to come together.

The ATSC 3.0 Next Gen TV transmitters for WSVN and WPLG are being shut down one week earlier (7-28-25) in order for WSVN to broadcast ABC in HD on 7.2.... Which begs the question whether the DTV transponder for the Miami DMA has enough space for an additional HD channel given that DTV already carries 14 HD local channels in this market. I can't imagine DTV carrying ABC in Miami in SD so they'll have to fit it in in HD somehow.

Another wrinkle is that WPLG recently announced that DTV Stream will NOT be carrying WPLG after 8-4-25... they will be dropping it and replacing it with the new ABC station... KyL416 said WPLG would stay on the satellite so we could have two different Channel 10's between the DTV satellite guide (WPLG) and the DTV Stream guide (WSVN D2). The DTV websites will also have to reflect these conflicts in their programming line-ups for Miami.

Probably 352

WSVN-D2 on stream will have whatever channel number they give it on satellite.
Makes sense. I have always said in the past that's where is should it go if they ever add it. Of course I don't remember what was there in the past (CRS). Thanks

352 was NASA TV until it shutdown last summer. Its P/I replacement ended up being 308 LooLoo
