I know you can put your DirecTV account on hold when you go on vacation. But can you do the same thing in reverse for your vacation home? How long will DirecTV allow your account to be on hold? My mom has a place in NC she only uses a few months a year. Can she have service installed and put it on vacation mode 2 months later? She's there now and when she leaves in April or May she might not be back until next January. Can she do this?

You can suspend the service for pretty much any reason, but only 6 months of a rolling 12 months.

If it is just mom using it she could take her receiver with her and call to directv move her service to the new house.
They would even install a dish if needed at the vacation house.
If you have people at the original house then you would need the second account.

If she already has the two accounts and they are in contract the 6 month suspension is the best option. If not in contract she could just turn one off.
