Disabling front panel

It's not, without opening the receiver and physically removing the connecting wires. This would cause you problems with D*, since the D12's are all leased receivers.

The question is, why would you want to? The buttons on the front can be used whenever there is a problem with the remote.

Be warned that removing the cable to the front panel would also disconnect the IR sensor, effectively disabling the whole unit.

I suspect the OP has little fingers in the house that like to press buttons. :) Solution is to move the unit higher.

:eureka I put an orange tape on the carpet around my entertainment center, and say "don't go past the line." Even my 1 year old understands.
