H265 is all that has been mentioned IIRC. I also do not think VP9 will have bearing on broadcast TV, and that is what concerns me most with the H3.

Not a surprise. Discovery, ESPN and HDNET were the first to go to HD. I expect ESPN will have a 4K feed soon (maybe they already have one).

...as long as we don't get Art Mann in 4k I loved his shows, but 720p was more than good enough for his mug.

I propose UHDnet instead of 4Knet. They could also carry NASA's UHD channel when they run out of UHD content.

Nope the Chipset was made before VP9 existed.

Cuban may be able to launch a UHDNet, but DIRECTV owns the trademark for 4KNET to that's not an option.
