Do you mean the renamed 811? All 811 information applies.

no it does not. It does need a signal from the satellite to work though

381 branded receivers are only available on a lease (they are not for sale) so if you have one you should be subscribed already anyways.

What are the leasing options for the 381, will they enable the old HD channels?

Nope the only HD channels it will get is OTA. They will not get any of Dish Networks HD channels with it.

That's why Dish lowered a category for 381 being same as 811.
Now it's 3rd class device .
