Can a person hook up a dish 6000 receiver and get HD from the 129? why I ask a friend bought one off e-bay and wants to hook it up to his HD tv. I personally have not seen a 6000 since 2005.

I have a 811 I am willing to sell to him cheap but I do not know if that receiver can be activated to receive the 129 sat using a 1000.2 dish.

Alas, neither can be used to receive any current HD offerings. Dish will not activate them for any HD, namely due to the fact that they are MPEG2 receivers, while all of the HD "up there" currently is MPEG4, needing a MPEG4 capable receiver (ie, a VIP series)

The Answer is no
Al HD Channels are in MPEG4 stream video and 6000 is a MPEG 2 receiver

The only HD the 6000 (and the 811 as well) can get are OTA and that is all.

And that's only if the 6000 has the 8VSB module installed in it.
