Hi,

I've had a new Dish 722k for about a week and a half now. It's been nothing but problems. Often it doesn't respond to the remote control. Sometimes it does. It's quite sporadic. Also, there have been a number of times where I haven't been able to rewind past a certain point in a show. I was watching one show on WGN the other night and it wouldn't let me rewind to the beginning of the show. It didn't matter if I used skip back or actually used rewind.

Are these normal issues for this receiver? I have an older Dish 722 downstairs, and it's always been pretty much perfect. No response issues or anything like that.

Thanks

Nothing like that

Now when you are saying you couldn't rewind to start of show had you started the show from the beginning or was that where you tuned to the show. If it is that it can't rewind to the beginning because it wasn't there to start with. Man I've never had exactly the same problems w/mine sounds like it might be the unit you have has HDD problems.

The buffer only has one hour on it, it does not start on the second tuner until you activate it by using the pip feature, even if the tuner is already on the channel you want. If the channel is changed on tuner 2, the buffer only goes back to when the channel was changed or the previously mentioned one hour.

I started from the beginning of the show, watched a few minutes, and then wanted to rewind a little to see something again. But it wouldn't let me. Each time I tried, it would let me rewind, but only to the same certain point. I had to start the show all over again and watch to the point that I wanted to rewind to.

I was watching a recorded show. Not live TV.

Well, the responsiveness issue appears to be because of my TV. I have a Samsung A750. The last two times that the receiver has gone unresponsive, I shut off the TV and then changed the channel on the receiver. Both times, it worked perfectly.
I'm not sure what I can do about this. I never had this problem when the A750 was downstairs with the other receiver. But that receiver was positioned to the right and slightly above the TV. This receiver is positioned directly below it, a couple of shelves down from the TV on a little TV stand. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it possible that it could still be a receiver problem with getting a remote signal through interference?

Some HD TVs will cause that problem. I had a 722K installed the same day I installed my new Sammy LCD in our bedroom. The TV2 remote would not work for crap. TV1 was fine. I had to extend the TV2 remote antenna about 4 feet away from the TV. Now all is good.

Unfortunately there is no antenna for tv1. TV1 is IR, I think. TV2 seems to work fine, but as I have a harmony remote that only does IR, I am kind of stuck with IR. Does anyone know of any ways to minimize or deflect the IR signal from the tv. I was thinking about tin foil, but I don't know exactly where the field that's causing the problems is.

Do you have other options for relocating the 722. I have read that others have moved the receiver a few inches one way or the other and it fixed it.

I did try moving the tv back a little bit, but had no luck. I wish that I had a little more room to play with. I will see if I can pull the receiver forward a bit.

Move the 722k to the top shelf of your a/v cabinet so it is on the under the tv. I had problems with my 722k and the remote control on tv 2 when it was on the bottom left side of my a/v cabinet. I moved it to the top right shelf and my remote could control the receiver again.

i read your problem with your 722k. Wow! it's the exact thing mine is doing. i gave the old boys a call at dish for tech ass. no help. they sent me a new remote (ir) for tv 1. still no help. they sent me a new 722k unit receiver. still no help. tv 2 remote (uhf) always works fine. also when i would turn tv off, the remote would operate the receiver for tv 1. i knew this by watching the tv 1 led go on and off. dish repair man came out two days ago. he moved receiver to a slightly different location. still no help. our receiver was hooked to the tv 1 by the pr py b cables (i'm not sure of the letters but it's something like that. i got rid of those cables and used av cables instead. i attached the av cables to the tv1 port on back of receiver. then i attached the other end to an av inlet on my television. just like magic, the problem was gone!!!! remote 1 works 100%. i might purchase hdmi cable to replace the av's. i haven't decided yet. my tv is a vizio 42" flat screen lcd display. let me know how your is hooked up and give this a try.
i read in the 722k manual that the pb pr y ports receives info from the tv for picture type. this got me thinking about the previous cable hook up. reply back asap to let me know if this helped.
