Dish after lightning strike

I have my H3+ connected to a Monster surge protector that I purchased in 2007. Should I replace it?
I wouldn't, unless you notice problems. I was using an cheap electric surge protector for my Prime star satellite receiver in 96 and I think that is why the electrical surges caused it to smoke. It was pretty old cheap surge protector. But Monster was pretty expensive in its day and I think it is made to last. So that is why I bought one after the experience with the Prime star receiver. Sorry, if I didn't make that more clear in my first post. ;)

My stuff is now all connected to a Monster surge protector I bought at Best buy in the late 90s. I learned this the hard way using a cheap older surge protector, when we had an ice storm and my Prime Star satellite receiver started smoking, when the lights kept browning out and then coming back on in quick succession. Smoke came out of the sat receiver and we ended up with DISH afterwards in January of 1997.
Shouldn't those be replaced after a few years?

Probably, but the Monster surge protector I have has been pretty reliable since I got it back in the late 90s and I haven't noticed any problems or burned out electronics using it. The kind I had hangs on the wall and covers like 7 things . I don't even see one like it anymore on the Best Buy website. They do have one that has 12 plug in spots on their website for $79.99. Might look at getting that one. Ok, I just bought it and it will be here on April 2nd. Might be time to upgrade after all.
