Dish and Comcast

I have Dish and also basic Comcast cable. The cable runs through my Dish receiver. I am interested in upgrading my Comcast subscription to the next tier, but really don't want additional boxes or a service call to the house. The HD channels on Comcast show up great without the Comcast equipment. Is it possible to upgrade without additional hardware? I only watch Comcast when the weather interferes with dish

If you want the digital tier of channels (which you do) you will need a box from Comcast for those.
