Dish Bankruptcy - Business as Usual

I'm hoping HughesNet stays around in some fashion, I don't have many options for a secondary WAN connection.

I'm not sure what changed, but as of about 6 months ago I no longer lose cable service when the power goes out. But still I like to have HughesNet as a failover anyway, and HugheNet Voice is where I have my original cell phone number that was issued from Nextel from over 25 years ago ported to, that looks like it could be a business phone number.

Good for her.

As a federal employee, seeing the fear in my co-workers faces, hearing the uncertainty in their voices wondering if something we put in our idiotic weekly '5 Things' email would be scanned and flagged by some soulless AI bot would lead to us being RIF'd was nothing to LOL about. Having someone you care about breakdown a cry because both her and her husband are gov't employees with 2 kids under the age of 4 not knowing if they would get axed was not something to LOL about. Having your heart go to 175 BPM whenever a new email came in from hr@opm.gov was nothing to LOL about. While the ketamine infused trillionaire was jumping around in a trench coat wielding a chainsaw over 3 million of us were on edge. We watched people we care about lose their jobs wondering if we'd be next. I have no desire to support that out of touch creep.

While people have been attacking Charlie over his spectrum, it looks like all along it's been money in the bank
No, I think first off how he got it, pissed off people. Then the dragging his feet on getting anything running. Then asking for extensions because of the feet dragging. Everyone knew how much it was worth. People were expecting it to go to a small startup. Instead, they created a small startup, or call it a spin off...I think thats what people like me didnt like about the whole deal. Only a fool would think spectrum would go down in price over the last what? 10 or 15 years of ownership? And how much did he do with it? More like wasted money, while dragging his feet.

Even WITH that money coming in, Dish is still losing customers by the truckload each qtr....so what exactly is the purpose of this money? Seriously.....to keep a dying business in ICU for a bit longer?

This situation reminds me of one of my Grandfather's favorite jokes. A farmer (this was back in the 1980s) won the lottery and a reporter asked him what he was going to do with all that money and he said he would keep farming until it was all gone.

So, about 19 months ago my sister in law learned that she had acute myeloid leukemia. The docs told her that even with aggressive treatment, she had about six months to live at the most. Today, she is at MD Anderson receiving a new round of chemo (the old chemo quit working).

My brother says that the house will go on the market if that's what it takes to pursue more treatment. He's already spent most of his life's savings. What exactly is the purpose of this money being spent..........to keep a dying person around for a bit longer?

I guess that she and he have decided that it is worth the expense to keep her around for her family for a few more weeks, months, years.

I'm happy that DISH has decided the same for it's family of customers.

So with this new influx of $23 billion, isn't that more than enough to fulfill the debt that they wanted discharged by the bk court?

Remember, Charlie moves assets around between his multiple companies in what might be called a shell game. And, like Chess, he is thinking many moves ahead.

When the game ended, Echostar ended up with the valuable assets.

This is some of the $$$ the Tower companies are trying to get included in the bankruptcy.

EchoStar is not part of the bankruptcy.
