DISH Has Made it Impossible to be a VIP211k Owner

It might have to do with the mandatory $15 Whole-House DVR Fee tacked on to your monthly bill for having the Hopper on your account. But the Wally wouldn't have that and would be the supported replacement for the ViP 211.

Our vacation family home has a pair of ViP 211k receivers which have long had the DVR fee paid. At some point we will need to replace them, probably with Wallys. And pay the one-time Wally DVR fee.
Your 211 DVR fee will transfer over to the new Wally.

I am thinking it's the mandatory 15.00 fee tacked on to the bill for having a hopper!!!! yes a wally would be supported i belive the fee to activate an HDD is a one time 40.00. i wonder how much longer dish will support the 211's 🤔

$15 "whole-house DVR" added fee on hoppers? When they aren't even whole house, like they should have designed?
How should have dish designed to hopper 3 🤔.. our hopper 3 is in the media room and we have joeys all over the house receiving programming... there is nothing on t.v. worth needing more than 16 tuners half of it's crap and commericals ;). theres no way in hell i will live with an HDMI splitter watching chick flicks that's just not happening :biggrin :eeek. i think that 5.00 per joey is very reasonable for my peace of mind ;)

...as long as you let them do the install and start a 2-year.
i beg to differ on that... when we upgraded our joeys to the joey 4. we had the protection plan... we bought em they installed them no contract extension what so ever!!! we moved no contract extension what so ever!!! fleesing sh*t is what gets you in trouble as a leased box is a 2 year!!!

This thread is supposed to be about the ViP 211, not the Hopper. The OP evidently lost some events from their EHD and believe Dish made changes to the 211 firmware that caused that to happen. They don't want to upgrade their hardware as they don't want to be tied to a 2-year commitment to Dish Network. But buying a Wally to replace their 211 should be a fairly easy process and no commitment necessary if you own the equipment.

So far, Dish hasn't emailed us anything about our 211k receivers, so they aren't actively trying to get rid of them.

the only way to escape the 2 year is to buy the boxes!!! fleesing requires a new two... we have the protection plan so they installed our joey upgrades at no cost and no new 2 year since we bought em. the wallys are cheap!!!
