Dish Launches RSN's in HD

When I check the EPG for FOXSW(416), I see Mon 4/9 NBA Basketball from 7:30 to10:00 pm LA Clippers at Dallas Mavericks. It is available to me. I then see Mon 4/9 on FOXSW HD (366) an NBA game, Rockets at Sonics, from 8:30pm to 1:30am and it is not available to me. Are the fox hd channels like Food hd and not broadcasting the same content or is the guide not correct yet for the hd channels? I also notice the Fox Hd channels are not mapped down on my l401 622s' EPGs. Anyone have any idea of what is really going on?

Sacramento Area HD Sports

Last night the Giants were on SD but I did not have FOXBA in HD as I would have expected. Did anyone in Sacramento get the game? Is this going to be the norm?

This is a good list and is very easy to read, thanks Digi.

For Sports 720p should be better than 1080i.

That is the conventional wisdom. But as someone who has owned three different 1080p displays, as well as large direct-view CRT that will display both 1080i and 720p NATIVELY with no conversion, you will never be able to convince me that any 720p signal is ever going to be better than any 1080i signal in any circumstance. I've just done way too many first hand tests of all kinds of content using every possible signal permutation. People can choose whatever they want, but for my eyes I'm going to prefer a 1080i source every time, period.

And some that aren't (NESN)

and it doesn't look that way any time soon according to the reply I got via e-mail  :

Thanks for the email. DISH Network is always trying to add more HD content to our programming line up. Right now, we do not have a deal with NESN to provide our customers with NESN in HD. We do not have a specific launch date that this may happen. I can certainly understand your frustration being a Red Sox fan myself and living in Colorado. Unfortunately, we do not have any further information regarding this issue.

Sorry this was not more encouraging news. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Eric VanLaethem

I think if it were being broadcast in 720p/60 it would be better, but 720p/30 is not better than 1080i/60

I couldn't agree with you more. 720p should be better for sports but from my personal experiences (1080i CRT and 720p LCD), 1080i looks a heck of a lot better but that may be just the sets that I have.

So what about people like myself in the FSN-South area that picks up Hd from the 61.5 location? I have had my setup long before the Dish 1000.2 (I think that's the new one) became available. I still have a SuperDish and a Dish 300 pointed at 61.5. So now I have to have a new dish installed to pick up my RSN in HD?

Apparently your area is slated to be covered by 129W. I'm sure the RSN plans are straight in line with their long term plans of HD LiL's when Ciel-2 goes live.
