So I have this leftover 24" dish and LNB from Voom. I was considering getting Dish or Direct, and was trying to remember what the underlying Voom hardware really is. My memory says Dish, but my memory also says I was once young and attractive to women...

I think some one said it's D*, though my memory may not be any better than yours ;)
I suspect it would work with both though. But only one satellite at a time.

Well, Direct is using the elliptical dish now and mine is still round. So *shrug* who knows ;). Just trying to minimize the pain of switching over.

Elliptical dish, as I understand, is used to reach two satellites at once. The one you have will only do one at a time.

My current 24" dish was used for Dish prior to Voom, so I think it will work for all 3. Actually, I can pickup DIsh and Voom at the same time on my dish, just hook each receiver to a different LNB. They are close enough in the sky to receive both.
